Understand and decide

What matters before whitening

In-office whitening: concentrated and controlled

In-office whitening uses a higher-concentration whitening gel under controlled conditions in the practice. The gums are carefully protected with a liquid dental barrier. A visible change may be apparent immediately after the session, although the achievable shade depends on the starting colour, tooth structure and existing restorations.

Home whitening: gradual and practical

Following impressions, custom whitening trays are produced for the upper and lower jaws. At home, the gel supplied by the practice is worn for around four hours a day or overnight. Initial visible changes often appear after approximately ten days. After a check, the trays may be reused for future top-ups.

Naturally brighter rather than artificially white

A good result does not need to be maximally white. We consider skin tone, lips, tooth shape and the shade of existing fillings or crowns. The target shade is discussed and documented so the result remains credible and complements your appearance rather than looking like a filter.

Whitening before a wedding, photos or a new job

For a fixed event, allow enough time for an examination, possible cleaning and any temporary sensitivity. A responsible plan is based on oral health and a realistic timeframe rather than a blanket promise of instant results.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about Method comparison · Berlin

Clear answers to support your decision. Individual suitability is assessed at your appointment.

What is the difference between in-office and home whitening?
In-office whitening takes place entirely in the practice with a higher-concentration gel and liquid gum protection. Home whitening uses a lower-dose gel in custom-made trays gradually at home.
How many appointments are needed for professional whitening?
Both methods begin with an examination and consultation. In-office whitening concentrates whitening into the practice session; home whitening additionally requires impressions, tray production, instruction and, where appropriate, a review.
Can a natural-looking result be planned?
The preferred brightness can be discussed using a shade guide. The biological result remains individual. Existing crowns or fillings do not change colour and are included in the aesthetic plan.
When should I start whitening before an important event?
Allow time for an examination, possible cleaning and any temporary sensitivity. The precise lead time depends on the method and your starting situation and is agreed during the consultation.
Does health insurance cover professional whitening?
Whitening is generally a privately paid aesthetic service. We provide an individual cost estimate before treatment. Please check any potential reimbursement directly with your insurer.
