Functional Medicine – Understanding the Body as a Whole

Isabelle Spring is a naturopath specialising in functional medicine and micronutrient therapy. She works independently – separate from Praxis Spring – and accompanies patients with chronic complaints that often remain unexplained for years.

Her approach: not treating the symptom, but finding the cause. For this, she uses modern laboratory diagnostics – blood analyses, stool tests, micronutrient panels – and develops individual therapy plans on this basis.

Many of her patients come with complaints such as chronic fatigue, brain fog, skin problems or digestive disorders – and have already had numerous doctor visits without receiving a satisfactory answer. Isabelle Spring takes time, listens and systematically searches for the connections.

Gut, Microbiome & General Health

Gut Therapy & Microbiome Analysis

The gut is the centre of the immune system – around 70% of the body's immune cells reside there. A disturbed microbiome (dysbiosis) can manifest as fatigue, brain fog, skin problems, digestive complaints, inflammatory tendencies and susceptibility to infections. Many of these complaints are not associated with the gut – yet the cause often lies there.

Isabelle Spring works with a professional stool test sent to a laboratory. The analysis shows in detail: which bacterial strains are present or absent, whether inflammatory markers are elevated, how digestive performance is, and whether dysbiosis is present. Based on these results, she develops an individual therapy plan – with targeted probiotics, prebiotics, dietary adjustments and micronutrients.

Targeted gut restoration is especially important after antibiotic therapy: antibiotics kill not only pathogens but also beneficial gut bacteria. A structured rebuilding of the gut flora protects against secondary conditions and strengthens long-term health.

Chronic Exhaustion & Mental Clarity

Chronic Fatigue & Brain Fog

Chronic fatigue and brain fog – the feeling of mental cloudiness, concentration problems and mental heaviness – are common complaints that are often not adequately investigated in conventional medicine. Blood count unremarkable, yet those affected feel exhausted, lacking drive and as if behind a glass wall.

Isabelle Spring systematically searches for the causes: nutritional deficiencies (Vitamin D, B12, iron, magnesium), thyroid dysfunction, gut dysbiosis, chronic inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction or hormonal imbalances. Often it is a combination of several factors that reinforce each other.

Through targeted laboratory diagnostics and an individual therapy plan – consisting of micronutrients, gut therapy, dietary adjustments and lifestyle changes – many sufferers can gradually regain their energy and mental clarity.

Gut-Skin Axis

Skin Problems: Acne, Eczema, Psoriasis

Skin and gut are closely connected – the so-called gut-skin axis. Chronic skin conditions such as acne, eczema (atopic dermatitis) or psoriasis often have an inflammatory component that originates in the gut. A disturbed gut flora, increased intestinal permeability (leaky gut) and nutritional deficiencies can significantly aggravate skin conditions.

Isabelle Spring analyses the connection between gut health, inflammatory markers, nutritional status and skin condition. Through targeted gut restoration, micronutrient therapy and dietary adjustments, many skin problems can be treated from the inside out – sustainably and without side effects.

Particularly with eczema and psoriasis, naturopathic support often shows significant improvements – as a complement to dermatological treatment or as an independent approach.

Personalised Laboratory Diagnostics

Micronutrient Therapy & Laboratory Diagnostics

Vitamins, minerals and trace elements are the foundation for almost all bodily functions – and a deficiency often goes undetected for years. Fatigue, hair loss, brittle nails, skin problems, frequent infections or concentration problems can be early signs of nutritional deficiency.

Isabelle Spring analyses your individual nutritional status through blood analyses and develops a personalised therapy plan. This is not about blanket supplementation, but targeted, evidence-based measures – tailored to your lab values, your complaints and your lifestyle.

  • Vitamin D3 & K2 – Bones, immune system, mood
  • Vitamin B12 & Folic Acid – Energy, nervous system, brain fog
  • Iron & Ferritin – Fatigue, hair loss, concentration
  • Magnesium – Muscle cramps, sleep, stress resistance
  • Zinc & Selenium – Immune system, skin, thyroid
  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids – Anti-inflammation, brain, heart

Metabolism, Digestion & Weight

Digestive Disorders & Metabolic Problems

Bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, constipation or the feeling that nothing is properly digested – digestive disorders are widespread and significantly impair quality of life. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), food intolerances and dysbiosis are common causes that are often not adequately diagnosed.

Metabolic problems – including weight gain despite healthy eating, insulin resistance or a sluggish metabolism – are often connected to nutritional deficiencies, thyroid function and gut health. Isabelle Spring analyses these connections and develops a holistic therapy plan.

Her approach: no diets, no short-term solutions. Instead: finding causes, optimising nutritional balance, building gut flora and returning the body to its natural balance.

Optional Collaboration

Close Collaboration with Praxis Spring – On Request

On explicit request, close collaboration with dentist Bogdan Spring is possible. This is particularly useful for tooth extractions and implantations (Bone Healing Protocol), for the treatment of periodontosis, and for questions about wound healing and regeneration after dental procedures.

This support is an optional additional service and does not replace dental treatment at any time, but complements it – entirely according to your personal wishes.
