Before we begin the actual cleaning, we specifically disclose the dental plaque. Special disclosure solutions reveal what the naked eye cannot see: fresh, soft deposits appear in a different colour than older, already hardened deposits. This allows us to precisely assess where particular cleaning is needed – and you can see for yourself which areas your daily home dental care is not yet reaching sufficiently. This visual feedback is a valuable part of the treatment and helps you to specifically improve your brushing technique.

Tartar is mineralised plaque that can no longer be removed by daily brushing. With our ultrasound device, we gently and effectively remove tartar from all tooth surfaces – including hard-to-reach areas between teeth and below the gum line. The fine ultrasound vibrations break down the structure of the tartar without damaging the tooth surface. At the same time, the irrigation fluid provides an antibacterial effect.

The air polishing device is one of the most effective instruments in modern prophylaxis. A fine water-air-powder jet removes stubborn discolouration – for example from coffee, tea, red wine or tobacco – as well as soft deposits quickly and gently from all tooth surfaces, including interdental spaces and the gum margin. We use powders of different grain sizes: finer powders are used on sensitive areas and below the gum line, coarser grain where more stubborn discolouration is present. The result: silky-smooth tooth surfaces on which new deposits form significantly more slowly.

For particularly sensitive areas and for detail work, we use specialised hand instruments: curettes and scalers developed in various shapes and sizes for different tooth surfaces and periodontal pockets. With these instruments, we can also specifically remove subgingival deposits – that is, deposits below the gum line – without stressing the surrounding tissue. This manual precision work is indispensable for a complete and lasting clean.

After cleaning, all tooth surfaces are carefully polished. The polishing smooths out the finest irregularities on the tooth surface that may have been caused by deposits or tartar. A smooth surface offers bacteria and new deposits significantly less opportunity to adhere – so the result lasts longer. Finally, the teeth are sealed with a high-quality fluoride preparation that strengthens the enamel and protects against cavities.

Using your own findings, we show you which areas deserve particular attention and recommend the right tools: the correct toothbrush and brushing technique, dental floss or interdental brushes in the right size, mouthwashes and special toothpastes.
