Telescopic Prostheses with Galvano Technology – Removable Dental Prosthetics at the Highest Level

When there are no longer enough teeth for a fixed restoration, the telescopic prosthesis with galvano technology offers an elegant, comfortable and durable solution. Ultra-thin gold caps on the remaining teeth provide perfect retention – without a palatal plate, without clasps, without compromises.

What is a telescopic prosthesis?

A telescopic prosthesis is a removable dental prosthesis based on so-called telescopic crowns. The principle works like a telescope: primary crowns (inner crowns) are first permanently cemented onto the remaining teeth. The prosthesis itself carries the matching outer crowns, which are placed over the inner crowns and held securely by friction. The result is a removable prosthesis that feels firm and natural, yet can be removed at any time for cleaning.

Galvano technology refines this concept to the highest level: the outer crowns are not conventionally cast but are electrochemically deposited from pure gold. This produces ultra-thin gold caps with an exceptionally precise fit – the gap between inner and outer crown is minimal, the friction optimal.

Galvano technology – what is behind it?

In galvano technology, pure gold is deposited atom by atom onto a model of the inner crown in an electrochemical process. This process allows a wall thickness of just 0.1 to 0.2 millimetres – significantly thinner than cast crowns. The result is gold caps with near-perfect precision that conform exactly to the shape of the inner crown.

The advantages of galvano technology at a glance: the pure gold is fully biocompatible and causes no allergies whatsoever. The ultra-thin wall thickness means less tooth substance needs to be removed. The exceptional precision ensures long-lasting retention and minimal wear. And not least: the warm golden colour of the caps is invisible under the veneering – the prosthesis looks like natural teeth.

Who is the telescopic prosthesis suitable for?

The telescopic prosthesis is an ideal solution for patients who still have some of their own teeth – typically between two and eight remaining teeth – but not enough for a purely fixed restoration. It is particularly suitable for patients who reject or cannot tolerate a palatal plate, for patients who want a removable solution with maximum wearing comfort, and for patients for whom implants are not an option for medical or financial reasons.

The telescopic prosthesis is also a good choice when the remaining teeth vary in strength and a combined fixed-removable restoration makes sense. We advise you individually and always provide a transparent cost estimate before treatment.

Treatment process – what to expect

Treatment with a telescopic prosthesis takes place over several appointments. At the first appointment, we conduct a detailed consultation, assess the condition of the remaining teeth and create a transparent treatment and cost plan. The teeth are then prepared for the primary crowns and an impression is taken. The laboratory produces the primary crowns in gold and the prosthesis with the galvanically produced outer crowns. After a try-in and any minor adjustments, the primary crowns are placed and the prosthesis is handed over.

After placement, we accompany you with follow-up appointments to optimally adjust the prosthesis. A well-made telescopic prosthesis can be worn reliably for many years with regular care.

Costs and insurance coverage

The costs for a telescopic prosthesis depend on the number of telescopic crowns, the chosen material and the extent of the prosthesis. Statutory health insurance covers a fixed subsidy for removable dental restorations, the amount of which depends on the type of restoration and your bonus booklet. We always provide a transparent treatment and cost plan before treatment so you know exactly what costs to expect – without surprises.

For private patients, billing is according to GOZ. We are happy to advise you on all financing options, including interest-free payment plans of up to six months.
