Dental Implants Berlin-Tegel – Titanium Implants for Permanent Tooth Replacement

A missing tooth is more than an aesthetic issue – it affects chewing ability, speech and, in the long term, the jawbone. Titanium implants are the only solution that fully replaces the natural tooth in its function: firmly rooted in the bone, natural-looking in appearance, lasting in result.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root made of high-purity titanium that is gently inserted into the jawbone. Titanium has been the proven gold standard in implantology for decades: it is fully biocompatible, corrosion-resistant and capable of osseointegration – meaning the bone grows directly onto the titanium and bonds with it permanently. After a healing period of typically 3 to 6 months, an abutment and then a ceramic crown are placed on the implant. The result is a restoration that looks and functions like a natural tooth – without damaging the adjacent teeth.

Advantages over bridge or denture

A conventional bridge requires grinding down the healthy adjacent teeth – these are permanently weakened to serve as bridge pillars. A removable denture often does not sit firmly, can shift and significantly impairs chewing ability. The implant, on the other hand, stands alone: it does not burden adjacent teeth, sits as firmly as a natural tooth, preserves the jawbone through the chewing forces it transmits, and can be cared for just like a natural tooth – with a toothbrush and dental floss.

Course of implant treatment – step by step

Every implant treatment begins with careful planning. We create a digital X-ray (CBCT – cone beam computed tomography), which gives us a three-dimensional view of the jawbone. This allows us to precisely determine the optimal implant position, length and diameter. During the implantation itself, the implant is gently inserted into the bone under local anaesthesia – the procedure is typically far less stressful than feared. During the subsequent healing phase of 3 to 6 months, the implant fuses with the bone. The abutment is then placed and the ceramic crown is attached. We guide you through every step and provide a transparent cost estimate before treatment.

Bone preservation (Socket Preservation) – the smart preparation

After a tooth extraction, the jawbone begins to deteriorate within a few weeks – because without a tooth root, the stimulus that maintains the bone is missing. Bone preservation (Socket Preservation) specifically prevents this deterioration: immediately after extraction, the wound is filled with a biocompatible bone grafting material. This maintains the implant bed in optimal quality, and future implants can be placed safely and long-term. We recommend this procedure whenever an implant is planned following a tooth extraction.

Costs and insurance coverage

Implants are generally not covered or only covered in exceptional cases by statutory health insurance. We always provide a transparent cost estimate before treatment so you know exactly what costs to expect. Many patients opt for supplementary dental insurance that covers implants proportionally. We are happy to advise you in a personal consultation about all options.
